Technology and Sustainability: OMIG’s 5.0 Strategy for the Plating Industry
OMIG and Industry 5.0: Technological Innovation and Energy Sustainability
Industry 5.0 marks a significant evolution in the industrial landscape, focusing on the integration of technological advancement and environmental sustainability. OMIG, a leader in the plating system sector, is at the forefront of this transformation, offering solutions that not only improve production efficiency but also contribute to a significant reduction in energy consumption.
The “Piano Transizione 5.0” (Transition Plan 5.0) offers a tax credit of up to 45% for companies that invest in reducing energy consumption. In particular, investments leading to at least a 3% reduction in energy use across the production facility or 5% in specific processes are eligible for a minimum tax credit of 35% on investments up to 10 million euros. This incentive represents a major opportunity for companies aiming to modernize their systems with more efficient and sustainable technologies.

According to the latest guidelines in the Transition Plan 5.0, replacing machinery that has been fully depreciated for at least 24 months benefits from a simplified procedure for calculating energy savings. In these cases, a minimum energy saving of 3% for the entire facility or 5% for the specific process can be assumed without the need for additional proof. This simplification facilitates access to tax benefits for companies investing in more efficient technologies.

OMIG, in collaboration with its suppliers, has adopted high-efficiency IE3 and IE4 motors in its plating systems. Compared to traditional IE1 motors, these advanced motors significantly reduce energy consumption, contributing to the overall goal of improving process efficiency. OMIG has also achieved energy savings through close collaboration with suppliers of rectifiers. The adoption of these technologies not only lowers operational costs but also helps companies access the tax incentives provided by the Transition Plan 5.0.
Since certifying its first system as compliant with Industry 5.0 requirements, OMIG has developed structured procedures to effectively support client companies and their consultants in obtaining the incentives offered under the Transition Plan 5.0. OMIG provides assistance with preliminary technical assessments and the preparation of required documentation, offering expert technical support throughout the process in close cooperation with the professionals appointed by the client.
OMIG’s commitment to adopting and promoting the principles of Industry 5.0 confirms its dedication to sustainable innovation, offering solutions that integrate energy efficiency, automation, and environmental responsibility.

Investments must be made between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension until June 30, 2026, if the order is accepted and a 20% down payment is made by the end of 2025.
